Petr |
Petr began to attend services just before we returned from our second furlough. He made a profession of faith during that time which proved premature. Though Petr has a kind manner and happy disposition, it was clear something was missing. Our relationship with him was strongly established during the time of his mother's death to cancer. I still remember our first meeting with her, sitting in their garden on a couple of old chairs while Petr served us tea. Little did we know how short her time was. Soon she went into the hospital for what would prove the last time. Emilie dealt with her about her soul in the hospital. Sadly, she did not want to get saved. But Petr’s heart was knit with us |

during that time. Petr eventually admitted that he himself was not saved and so, after having attended services for almost a year, Petr sat down for a careful study of salvation in the Book of Romans. During 2 months of weekly Bible study, the Spirit of God helped Petr to truly understand the gospel and come to repentance. He bowed his head at our kitchen table and placed his faith in Christ, a faith that has brought him a joy that is much more than just a “disposition”! Peter is a blessing to our church. He lives alone in a farm house complete with chickens, rabbits, a vegetable garden and, of course, a large hairy dog.. Hardly a Sunday goes by that he doesn’t bring fresh vegetables or a homemade fruit dessert to church for our after service fellowship time. Having just turned 41, our prayer for Petr is that God would bring him a wife, soon! |
